2024 Kleefstra Syndrome North American Family Conference Update

Our 2024 Kleefstra Syndrome North American Family Conference committee is now meeting and has some additional information that will be helpful for planning purposes.

The conference will be held June 20-23 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Boston Waltham outside of Boston. It’s recommended that attendees plan for three hotel nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday). We have arranged for a special room rate of $159 a night that includes breakfast each day. And yes, the hotel has a pool!

A conference agenda is expected to be firmed up by the end of February, and it is being structured to be a mix of learning and fun. Here is a tentative agenda:

• Thursday Evening – Registration; Newly Diagnosed Family Orientation; Kickoff Reception
• Friday – Half Day of Speakers Covering Research Updates (Dr. Tjitske Kleefstra in person confirmed); Off-Site Field Trip (TBD); Dinner Reception; Family Meet and Mingle
• Saturday – Half Day of Speakers and Panels (TBD); Family Game Time; Wrap-Up and Dinner
• Sunday – KS Family Breakfast

As with the 2022 conference, there will be a conference fee per person over 5-years-old. The fee amount is still being determined as event details are finalized, but it is expected to be $100 or less. The fee will cover conference materials, five meals, childcare, and an off-site field trip with transportation around Boston.

Professional childcare will be provided when parents are in the conference. Children should not attend the speaker/panel elements of the conference.
